about.

I’m Navjot (he/they), an intersectional feminist, a gender and policy researcher and a non-menstruating ally. I am focused on developing research tools at the intersection of gender, labour, health and masculinities.

Recently, I completed my Master’s Program at the School of Gender Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, India. The course structure equipped me with skills to approach ideas through the multidimensional lens of caste, sexuality, law and development. Currently, I am working on two independent studies - one, to understand how parental leaves are utilised in Indian households and the second on how menopause affects persons at their workplace.

Co-founding and running Hiccup, a menstrual cup company, I also work as a Gender Researcher and Consultant at Hiccup and with its associates. In our country, more than eighty per cent of menstruators don’t have access to period care products. Our goal at Hiccup is to increase access while advocating for adequate, inclusive and sustainable menstrual health management practices.

Being Sikh, an ethnic minority that has faced immense intergenerational trauma, I exist in a society that defines and confines our masculinity to a particularly militarized form. Over time, I have learnt through this to identify both my oppression and my privileges.

When I’m not being a feminist killjoy, I enjoy reciting Sufi poetry and folk songs. These days I can be found restoring an old 4x4 jeep and converting it into an EV.
